Gumlet: Creating a Colourful Brand Video
The brand video was done for GUMLET, a custom video streaming infrastructure that allows its users to manage their videos seamlessly.
During Pre-Production, we were mainly tasked to assist in the script and technical concept consultation, with the main idea (Scenarios, Background Colours, Host Script) for the video already created by Split Second Studios. We also did the casting for a total of 10 actors from various backgrounds, as we felt that the diverse ensemble of actors would match the colourful setting and tone of the video.
We intended the video to be informative and lighthearted - to ensure that it clearly shows what Gumlet can offer to its users. The quirky element of the scenarios helps to keep the attention of the audience, while they find out more.
The storyboard done up by Split Second Studios helped us greatly to visualise the scale of the art design required as well as the framing of the shots.
The set featured different bright, colourful backgrounds along with scenarios with intricate art settings. We initially had to figure out how to fit all of these art elements into the coloured background. After discussions with our resident Director of Photography, Alvin. We decided to go with setting two coloured backdrops for the scenarios that required more space.
We were fortunate enough to get a spot at The Colossal Studio, with its large space and welcoming host, Afiq. After a quick conversation with Afiq during a recce, we were confident that his studio was the perfect space for this video.
As always, we work with a trusted team of resourceful professionals who always find creative solutions. We were excited to once again work with our Art Director, Zhong Wei along with her team of Art Assistants, Clarissa and Sherman. The Art Team procured all the items we needed to build the different sets from scratch. It wasn’t an easy feat having to transport a sofa, a TV set, a malfunctioning washing machine, and a bunch of other miscellaneous items that bring the set to life.
The star of the show? Building an MRT set from scratch, and transporting it to the studio.
In summary, this was a great learning experience that enabled us to discover new spaces, connect with people from all walks of life, all while having an enjoyable time.
