Amazon Global Selling: Small Businesses, Big Stories

Small businesses are the backbone of the economy. They are often born out of passion. These 3 featured businesses Naoki Matcha, Keababies, and Abound Lifestyle are no exception, as what started out as a small inspiration, turned into a thriving business with the help of Amazon Global Selling.

We worked with the creative agency BLK J HAVAS for these series of campaign videos.

One of the key challenges for this shoot was the set-design. Initially, the shoot was planned to be shot in the various office spaces of the 3 businesses. However, upon recce-ing of the spaces, we found out that only 1 out of 3 of them were suitable for the shoot.

On our end, Alvin (director) worked with Aj (photographer) as well as Sherman (Art Director) to propose how we were going to transform the Amazon office into spaces that felt unique to each of these businesses.

The goal for Abound Lifestyle was to create a very homely, lived-in space as their products mainly were pillows, throw blankets & etc. We managed to transform the space that looked like this:

To our final frame that looked like:

Another interesting set we made in the Amazon office was for Keababies. Keababies focused on selling baby products and baby wear. As we were shooting their segment later into the evening, it was very key that we did not face any windows or outside environments. This was so we were able to control our lighting and keep it consistent throughout the shooting window.

However, this came with a catch as the set facing the inside of the office did not look very ideal:

There were a lot of background elements which gave away our location, and the challenge came of how to display their products within the space itself.

But, when it came down to it, we knew we had to make it work! Once again, thanks to our talented team working together, with Reynard our DP hiding elements within the frame & Sherman styling the set to look as filled up as possible, we ended up with a frame that we really liked:

This series of videos was a great experience for us as we got to learn about the success stories of these businesses. It also serves as an inspiration we can draw from.
